Kitchen exhaust odour control across the UAE

Ecology units, filtration upgrades and airflow assessment for commercial kitchens.

Cooking smells in a lobby, dining room or neighbouring property can indicate a problem beyond routine cleaning. RGS assesses the exhaust system as a whole—from the hood and filtration to the discharge point and makeup air—before recommending a solution.

We supply, retrofit and service kitchen exhaust treatment systems, including Mekar ecology units, for commercial buildings across the UAE.

Find where the odour is escaping

Hood capture and airflow. We assess whether the extract system captures cooking fumes at source and whether restrictions, fan performance or changes to the kitchen have affected airflow.

Filtration selection and condition. Grease, smoke particles and gaseous odours require different treatment. We review the installed stages, condition, access for cleaning and suitability for the cooking process.

Makeup air and pressure balance. Extract and replacement air need to work together. We check pressure relationships with adjoining spaces and whether the fresh-air supply supports the required exhaust duty.

Discharge and re-entry. The exhaust route and outlet position are reviewed in relation to nearby fresh-air intakes and occupied areas.

Solutions matched to your kitchen

  • Ecology unit selection and supply, with filtration stages specified for the application.
  • Electrostatic and activated-carbon filtration upgrades where appropriate.
  • Assessment of existing fans, ductwork and fresh-air equipment before replacement is proposed.
  • Makeup-air and control improvements to support capture and containment.
  • Planned cleaning, inspection and filter or carbon replacement to suit operating conditions.

Where the existing equipment is suitable, a targeted upgrade may be more practical than replacing the entire system. The proposal sets out the work, access requirements and planned downtime.

From survey to verification

1. Inspect. Review the cooking activity, complaint locations, system layout and service history.

2. Measure. Check extract and makeup airflow, pressure relationships and equipment performance within the agreed survey scope.

3. Recommend. Explain the findings and compare viable maintenance, control, filtration and equipment options.

4. Implement and check. Plan works around kitchen operations, then check the completed installation against the agreed requirements.

Planning for inspections and approvals

Requirements depend on the premises, approved design and relevant authority. Any approval requirements should be confirmed with the project’s consultant or authority before equipment and outlet arrangements are finalised. RGS can discuss the technical information and service records needed for the proposed works.
